Welcome
to the Interoperability Section of Beavercreek Fire Department's
IT Division. Beavercreek Fire Department owns and operates a
radio & computer system that provides interoperability capabilities
within six counties throughout Southwest Ohio.
What is Interoperability? Simply put, interoperability
(in the contexts of the Fire Department) allows seamless communications
between two or more dissimilar radio systems.
For example, most people believe that a firefighter's radio
can easily talk to a police officer's radio. In reality, this
is not the case. Beavercreek Fire Department's interoperability
system allows different radios from police, fire, EMS, and other
specialty responders to talk to each other using their own radios.
This technology was implemented in 2003/2004 through the procurement
of a $670,000 Fire Act Grant. Since its implementation, Beavercreek
Fire Department's interoperability system has been used multiple
times for large scenes, snow emergencies, special events, and
training.
The system includes three static interoperability nodes located
within three fire stations, plus one mobile node unit within
a Communications
vehicle.

system, or to schedule a time to tour it, please contact (937)
